Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkota Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians are the semi finalists. Though the order of these teams depends on last 2 league matches played between them.
Playoffs: This season IPL introduced new way for Semi finals matches and qualifying teams for Final.
Qualifier-1: 1st and 2nd teams from the points table will play.
Eliminator: 3rd and 4th teams from the points table will play.
Qualifier-2: Loser of Qualifier-1 and winner of Eliminator will play.
Final: Winners of Qualifier-1 and Qualifier-2 will play the final.
With this method, teams that stand in top two will have the advantage of having second chance even if they lost first semi final match.
Teams that stand in 3rd and 4th position need to win 2 semi final matches to reach Final.
